Earth & Space Science
You will get to learn about the many celestial objects found in our solar system, including planets, moons, meteors, and asteroids.
After completing this tutorial, you will be able to complete the following:
Which planets are composed of rock?
~ Mercury, Venus, Earth, and Mars are all composed of rock.
How are rocky planets constructed?
~ All the rocky planets have a very hot core at their center. This core is surrounded by the mantle, which is a thin layer of melted elements and rocks caused by the excessive heat released from the core. The mantle is covered by an outer layer called the core.
Which planets are composed of gas?
~ Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune are all composed of gas.
How are gaseous planets constructed?
~ Like rocky planets, gaseous planets also have a very hot core. Instead of a mantle and crust, however, the core of these planets is covered by a thick layer of gas. In addition, gaseous planets are also encircled by rings made of dust, rock, and other particles.
