What is reflection?

~ When a mirror sends most of the light that reaches it back to the environment from which it came, it is referred to as reflection.

What happens when the light in the tunnel falls on the mirror, as opposed to when it falls on the tunnel wall?

~ When the light in the tunnel falls on the mirror, it is reflected into and travels through the whole tunnel, which lights up the tunnel. When the light falls on the wall, only that part of the wall is lit up.

How might reflection occur on the surface of a lake?

~ Reflections are a very common occurrence on bodies of water such as lakes. Some light that reaches the surface of the lake is reflected and an image of the shoreline appears on the surface of the lake.
