~ The Milky Way appears as a white and hazy straight line from Earth. It is also a luminous (bright) area in the sky. We are unable to see the entire Milky Way from our position on Earth.

What are the physical properties of the Milky Way galaxy?

~ The Milky Way has a spiral shape and is approximately 100,000 light years in diameter. Because of its size, billions of stars can fit in the Milk Way. Additionally, the Milky Way has many arms. Our solar system is located in the Orion arm.
