The Children's Online Privacy Protection Act ("COPPA") requires that we inform parents and legal guardians about how we collect, use, and disclose personal information from children under 13 years of age ("Child" or "Children"); and that we obtain the consent of parents or guardians in order for Children to use Uzinggo. We explain below how we do that for Children, in addition to explaining the privacy measures we follow for all users of Uzinggo. When we use the term "parent" below, we mean to include legal guardians.
The only personally identifiable information we collect from Uzinggo users, including Children, is the user's first name and last name (you have the option of simply providing a last initial), email address, grade level, and username and password. We may also collect a user's cell phone number in order to allow us to send text messages to the user about Uzinggo. We do not collect any other personally identifiable information from Uzinggo users, including Children. If the user is a Child or under 18 years of age we require the parent to submit the user's personal information during the registration process after receiving parental consent to collect such information. At the time of registration, we collect payment information (e.g., credit card and billing address) from users over 18 years of age or from parents of users under 18 years of age, but such information is handled and stored by a third-party payment processor, not Sebit. Such third-party payment processor does not have a right to share your personally identifiable information.
Users and especially Children should note that any personally identifying information that is voluntarily posted to any public area of Uzinggo may always be collected and used by others. While we monitor such posting areas from time to time and will use commercially reasonable efforts to delete a Child's personally-identifying information prior to posting, we strongly encourage Children not to post such information.
A user's personally identifying information, including Children's information, may be used by Sebit to help us improve the functionality of Uzinggo and materials offered through Uzinggo. We may also use personally identifying information for limited marketing and promotional purposes (e.g., we may ask users via a link on Uzinggo to become fans of or to "like" Uzinggo on a social network). As described below, we may collect certain anonymous information that cannot be used to identify you, such as your IP address, and we may use such information to develop operations or marketing strategies (e.g., we may use the information to determine the best geographic locations in which to market Uzinggo). We receive and store the information for these purposes only and not in any other way. We use the information that you provide for such purposes as responding to your requests, customizing features for you, and communicating with you. Except as specifically stated herein, our policy is not to share this information with third parties, but we may share this information with other companies within Sebit. We will never sell this information to third-party marketing companies.
Information collected through Uzinggo may be supplied to affiliates of Sebit, who must keep such information confidential. At present, it is our policy not to disclose the personal information of our users to third parties and we are required by law to notify you should such policy change. Should we decide to provide personal information to third parties, parents have the option under COPPA of consenting to our collection of their Child's personally identifying information but refusing to permit us to disclose such information to any third parties, including contractors.
At any time parents can refuse to permit us to collect personal information from their Children and can request that any personal information we have collected be deleted from our records. We use two methods to allow parents to access, change, or delete the personally identifiable information we have collected from their Children:
We encourage parents and guardians to spend time online with their Children and to participate in the activities that may be offered on Uzinggo. No personally identifying information should be submitted to or posted on Uzinggo by Children without the consent of their parent or guardian. We encourage parents to monitor their Children's online use, and to help us protect their privacy by instructing them never to provide personally identifying information on Uzinggo or any other website without permission. We are also prohibited by law from conditioning a Child's participation in any activity on Uzinggo on the Child disclosing more personally identifying information than is reasonably necessary to participate in such activity.
Parents should instruct their Children not to give their name, email address, home address, telephone number or any other personally identifying information that would enable someone to contact the Child either online or offline, without first asking the parent or guardian for permission.
If we have actual knowledge that a Child is sending or posting personally identifying information on any area of Uzinggo, we will use commercially reasonable efforts to delete such personally identifying information before it is made public. We will never request personally identifying information from a Child in any of our public postings areas.
We may disclose a Child's personally-identifying information in special cases when we have reason to believe that disclosing this information is necessary to identify, contact or bring legal action against someone who may be causing injury to or interference with (either intentionally or unintentionally) our rights or property, other users, or anyone else that could be harmed by such activities. We may also disclose a Child's personally identifying information when we believe in good faith that the law requires it.
We have implemented technical, administrative and physical security measures that are designed to protect Uzinggo user information from unauthorized access, use, disclosure or modification. From time to time, we review our security procedures to consider appropriate new technology and methods. Please be aware that, despite our best efforts, no security measures are perfect or impenetrable.
We receive and store certain types of anonymous information whenever you interact with Uzinggo. For example, like many Web sites and online services, we use "cookies," and we obtain certain types of information when your Web browser accesses Uzinggo. Cookies are alphanumeric identifiers that we transfer to your computer's hard drive through your Web browser to enable our systems to recognize your browser and to provide customized features to you. The Help portion of the toolbar on most browsers will tell you how to prevent your browser from accepting new cookies, how to have the browser notify you when you receive a new cookie, or how to disable cookies altogether. Additionally, you can disable or delete similar data used by browser add-ons, such as Flash cookies, by changing the add-on's settings or visiting the Website of its manufacturer. However, cookies allow you to take full advantage of Uzinggo's best features, and we recommend that you leave them turned on.
Prior to user registration, Sebit may employ cookie technology on Uzinggo to track non-personal information such as type of browser, operating system, domain names and IP addresses. Prior to user registration, we do not link IP addresses to any personally-identifiable information. However, once you register and affirmatively opt-in and provide personal information about yourself, such personal information provided by you or collected through the cookie technology may be used for marketing purposes back to you. If you do not want to receive e-mail or other marketing communications from us, please adjust your registration page to opt-out of further marketing back to you.
Sebit uses or may use, a third party service, to collect anonymous visitor data on our network of sites and services. These services do not collect any personal information such as names, ages, phone numbers, addresses or e-mail addresses from visitors to Uzinggo. Sebit uses internal or third party services to collect visitor information like IP addresses, browser types (such as Internet Explorer or Netscape or Safari), referring pages, pages visited and time spent on a particular site. Sebit uses this type of service to collect this information for the following purposes: (1) to provide statistical analysis of web page traffic patterns; (2) to administer Uzinggo and Sebit's other sites and servers; (3) to allow for auditing of our services by third parties; and (4) for internal marketing purposes.
